Dogfood Production System shirts with abstract doggy drawing by Tom Ellard and hand logo on back collar. In 1981 Ellard raised the money to have some records pressed in a new venture. With the view that pressing records was like canning tins of dog food he named the new label Dogfood Production System. The second Severed Heads album ‘Clean’ (Dogmat 1) was the label’s first release in 1981. Printed manifestos of the time would explain their anti-art (actually anti-art industry) stance which celebrated the mundane and refuted the privileged artistic viewpoint. “Dogfood Simply Fills The Dog.”
