Voom Dosa Mister Q Prblems
Our final release of 2019 is a 4-track EP by Red Axes, the prolific production duo of Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi from Tel Aviv. The pair were raised on a diet of post-punk, new-wave, and Italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. Their own productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as I’m a Cliché, Correspondant, and Hivern Discs. “Voom” kicks things off with wild percussive toms and bubblegum female chants over a fat electro break. “Doom” rightly brings us into a dark, menacing cave where see pulses of light in the form of carefully placed synth lasers. “Mister Q” serves up metallic rhythms a la Front 242 backed with a strobe-ready sound. “Prblems” is the 10-minute anthem that closes the EP in typical Axes fashion: militant drums, battered electronics and lovingly drowned traditional instruments hypnotically pulse and reverberate. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The EP is housed in a die cut jacket that keeps the dancefloor vibes with a bold, DIY design by Eloise Leigh.
Artist: TV.OUT Title: Dusk Till Dawn Catalog #: DE-267 Format: Vinyl/Digital Release Date: November 29, 2019
Morning Light Sun War Zone Lord Product Of My Environment Slippery Slope
Tel Aviv born, Berlin based duo TV.OUT make their Dark Entries debut with a 6-track EP titled ‘Dust Till Dawn’ out Black Friday 2019. Doron Mastey Charly & Ori Itshaki have made a name for themselves the past few years putting on impressive live sets, DJing around the world, and running Parallax Records releasing various strains of rugged, well informed electronic music. Clocking in at 36 minutes this collection moves in hot pursuit of their two previous EPs for L.I.E.S. Side A opens with the metallic hi-hats of “Morning Light” that echoes early Euro/Goa techno-EBM sound to the 8-minute sleek, pounding industrial darkroom vibes of “Sun” and closes with the titanium-tipped 808 warped electro of “War Zone”. Side B leads off with the heavy New Beat scorcher “Lord”, a song we first heard on a mix from Cardopusher and knew we had to release. Then comes “Product Of My Environment” a slow-motion mutant menace that flows into the final song “Slippery Slope” a classic West Coast of The Hague ‘90s style electro perfectly suited for complete dance floor drama. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with black-white-red apocalyptic vibes and bold type.

Dark Day is the brainchild of Robin Crutchfield, a New York City based musician, performance artist, and writer. Robin’s musical path began in 1977 when he formed the no wave group DNA with Arto Lindsay and Ikue Mori. In 1979 Crutchfield left DNA to pursue his more synthesizer-based solo project. He released the ‘Hands In The Dark’ 7” followed by two albums, ‘Exterminating Angel’ in 1980 and ‘Window’ in 1982. In 1984 he re-launched Dark Day as an acoustic chamber ensemble performing ethereal soundscapes and self-released two cassette albums “Obsession” and “Beyond The Pale”. ‘Darkest Before Dawn' is a collection of 13 songs recorded between 1985-86, released on CD in 1989 that have never been pressed to vinyl before. The album is a lost medieval collection of pagan tunes for private ceremonies. Played on echoey pipe organ backed by saw-like rhythmic cello lines and melodic woodwind recorder, driven by the beats of rattles, bells, and drums. These simple, cyclical layered instrumental rounds owe much to the inspiration of Moondog as well as the efforts of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Dead Can Dance. The original press release stated, “Serious gothic organ works which cross Captain Nemo's Nautilus pipe organ with the standing stones of Stonehenge and reminisce Babylonian battle hymns and Egyptian burial ceremonies.” All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in jacket featuring illustrations from Thomas Bewick’s ‘Vignettes’ and includes a double sided insert with photos and notes.
