Hyperspace instrumental ambient series continues the line of experimental compilations featuring two artists (one side each) exploring their individual take on the ambient genre. Pressed in orange vinyl.
Steve Thomsen
His stream-of-conciousness soundscapes, free of conventional instrumentation and structure, kaleidescope through time and space amalgamating the conceptual strengths of music one finds the most intriguing: the entrainment drones of ambient music, the factory-noise barrage of shoe-gazer bands, the dissonant tone-clustering of Ligeti, the impressionistic narrative of symphonic tone-poems, the inscrutable bleep-blorp satellite telemetry of 1960s-era “computer” music, the haunted Forteana of his former bands Monitor and, of course, the improvisational chaotica of Solid Eye, among others.
