An original poster announcing Nocturnal Dream Shows at the Palace Theatre, San Francisco, April 1971, including “on stage The Cockettes in a repeat of their Depression follie Tinsel Tarts in a Hot Coma” (April 2-3), and “on stage The Cockettes in all new review Smacky and Our Gang” (April 23-24). Printed offset in black on white stock. Artwork by Todd Trexler. ‘Smacky and Our Gang’ parodied the Our Gang comedies as well as the troupe’s drug use, and starred Kreemah Ritz as Smacky (after Spanky in the Our Gang series), Inez Paloma as his mother, and John Rothermel as Miss Crabtree. The poster also bills the SF premiere of John Waters’ ‘Mondo Trasho’, and the first West Coast appearance of its star, Lady Divine (April 30-May 1) + a Physique Contest on stage, “selected Bella Figura by Steven Arnold” (April 16-17).
