A part of the underground press movement, Rags was published by Baron Wolman took what he learned from his years as the founding photographer of Rolling Stone magazine. Though it lasted a year 1970-71 after only 13 issues, its seismic effect on the content and style of contemporary fashion magazines is still felt today. Rags was the world’s first and last counterculture fashion magazine. It was dedicated to the premise that new fashion ideas were coming from the street, not from the designers.
